It is an honor for all of the obvious reasons but for a festival focused solely on short-form cinema to be recognized alongside @sxsw, Telluride and @slamdancegroup is gobsmacking. And to be seen on the same plane as @lecourtclermont is humbling. @dragun_lady and I (@warrenetheredge) are so grateful to @raythedestroyer and others who have championed our (till now) under-the-radar efforts in Walla Walla. That’s why The Movie Crush’s Artistic Director and Co-founder awarded @erickakreutz this year’s Curator’s Choice Award. MAMA exists within its own genre — part fiction, part documentary, all Truth. By casting the engaging and transparent @slaysman, mothers can see their tireless efforts honored and non-parents, particularly men, can witness the constant sacrifice required for raising children with love and respect. The moment in which Kristin cleans the bathroom mirror while seated on the toilet feels like one of the most honest moments captured on screen. Ericka has been lauded as an actor and photographer, MAMA is her directorial debut.
